Atish was born and raised in India and received his bachelor degree in commerce (with honours) from Calcutta University, after which he completed a chartered accountancy course to become a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He also completed the Law Degree Course of Calcutta University besides the final examination of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India. He is also a member of CPA PNG.
On completing his studies, Atish joined Price Waterhouse Coopers (then known as Lovelock & Lewes) in Calcutta, India, in the capacity of Audit Manager where he gained firsthand experience in auditing major multinationals in India for a period of three years. Thereafter he joined the Indian operations of Reckitt Benckiser (then known as Reckitt & Colman), one of the top five FMCG multinationals in the world, and soon became one of their most trusted and reliable members of the Finance Team, handling many important and complex assignments such as JV demerger, Corporate Treasury, Accounts Finalisation, Pharma Pricing, Sales related Commercial Controls and formation of a 100% subsidiary company of the UK based Group.
After 20 years service with Reckitt Benckiser, Atish joined a construction group at Dammam in Saudi Arabia, controlling the finances of the company as well as those of the other group businesses. Atish joined the Constantinou Group in Papua New Guinea in early 2006 as Financial Controller of Cloudy Bay and was instrumental in handling the majority stake sale to PNG Sustainable Development Project in July 2007. He was subsequently appointed as Financial Controller & Secretary of Cloudy Bay Sustainable Forestry Ltd, the position which he holds to date.
Atish has written a number of articles in The Chartered Accountant and The Management Accountant publications in India and has a keen interest in academics.
